History Made: Kato Martial Arts Hosts Its Biggest Belt Grading Ever!
What an absolute marathon of focus, grit, and determination! We officially hosted the largest belt grading in Kato Martial Arts history, testing 57 students across two packed, high-intensity sessions.
At Kato Martial Arts, we pride ourselves on maintaining exceptionally high standards—our belts are earned through real effort and technical precision, never handed out as a rubber stamp. While the vast majority earned their passes outright, a small number of students received a Referral. This means they demonstrated fantastic effort and passed the core of their assessment, but have a few specific techniques to refine during regular lessons over the coming weeks before their new belt is formally awarded. We are immensely proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see them complete those final steps on the mats!

Grading day is about so much more than swapping belt colors—it is the culmination of months of sweat, overcoming self-doubt, and building real-world resilience. Seeing our 4-year-olds right through to our senior adults supporting each other through both sessions showed the true heart of our dojo family.
