Superb Summer Grading Success!
What a fantastic weekend at Kato Martial Arts! We held our recent grading, and the results were nothing short of outstanding. The focus, determination, and spirit on display were a true testament to the hard work each and every student has put in.
A New Challenge: Our First Blended Syllabus Grading
This grading was a special one. It marked the first time our students were tested under our new, blended syllabus which combines the deep-rooted discipline of traditional martial arts with the dynamic and practical applications of modern techniques. Students were pushed to their limits through a rigorous examination of their forms, free sparring, strikes, and board breaking. Just as importantly, they were assessed on their concentration, respect, and self-defence knowledge, showcasing the well-rounded martial artists they are becoming.
More Than a Martial Art: Building Confidence and Character
One of the core aims of our new syllabus is to build more than just physical strength. We strive to cultivate unshakable confidence and instill virtues that extend far beyond the dojo. By fostering respect, discipline, and self-control, we empower our students to stand tall, believe in themselves, and become advocates against bullying. It’s about developing the character to walk away from a confrontation, but the skill and confidence to face one if necessary. Seeing these qualities shine through during the grading was incredibly rewarding.
